How it works
The tech, the privacy, and what happens when you paste.
RedFlagThis is simple on the surface and a little more interesting underneath. Here's the full picture.
1. You paste or upload
Drop text or a screenshot into the input on the homepage. That's the whole user experience. No category picker, no form, no account needed to start.
2. We detect the category
A single AI call does two things at once: it figures out what kind of content it's looking at (job listing, rental ad, dating message, contract, sales pitch, or something else), then runs the red flag checks specific to that category.
If you paste a job ad, we check against known job scam patterns. If you paste a lease clause, we check for predatory contract language. If it doesn't fit any category cleanly, we fall back to a general manipulation and deception scan.
3. You get structured results
Instead of a wall of text, you get clean visual cards. Each red flag has:
- A short name: what the pattern is called
- A severity level: high, medium or low
- The exact excerpt: the quote from your text that triggered it
- A plain-English explanation: why it's a flag and what it could mean
At the top, an overall risk assessment and a quick summary of what we found.
The AI behind it
We use Claude, built by Anthropic. It's one of the most capable language models available, trained with a strong emphasis on accuracy and nuance. For this kind of task (reading text carefully and spotting patterns across millions of known scams, manipulative language and predatory clauses) it's genuinely good.
That said: no AI is perfect. Red Flag This is an awareness tool, not a legal or financial authority. For anything with real consequences (signing a lease, starting a job, committing money) get a human professional involved.
Your privacy
This is the part we care about most.
- We don't store the content of your scans. Text and screenshots are sent to the AI, analysed, and then discarded. We don't write them to a database or keep copies.
- We don't share your content with third parties. It isn't sold, rented, or handed off to marketers.
- No account needed to start. You get 3 free scans a day without giving us anything. If you want more (10 a day), you can share an email. That's opt-in.
- If you share an email, we only use it for what we said we'd use it for. Verifying your identity, tracking your daily quota, and occasional updates about RedFlagThis including future paid plans. Unsubscribe any time.

Daily limits and what's coming
RedFlagThis is free to use. To keep it fast for everyone and to keep our AI costs sustainable, there's a daily limit:
- 3 scans per day without signing up. Resets every 24 hours.
- 10 scans per day if you add your email (free).
- Unlimited scans on a paid plan (coming later, expected around $9/month).
The free tier isn't going away. We're building a paid plan for power users who need to run lots of scans, want result history or want to export reports. Casual users will always have a meaningful free option.
What we don't do
- We don't give legal advice.
- We don't give financial advice.
- We don't crawl websites for you; you paste, we analyse.
- We don't report anything to authorities.
- We don't replace doing your own homework on something important.
